Cleveland Organist will perform accompaniment for silent film triple feature this October
For Immediate Release:
On Sunday, November 28th at 4:00pm Organist Todd Wilson will return to the E.M. Skinner Organ to perform live organ accompaniment to three short silent films. While the film is free to the public, tickets are required. Tickets are available now through the Florence and Ward Beecher Box Office at Stambaugh Auditorium.
Buster Keaton and Sybil Seeley star in the comedy “One Week” as newlyweds who receive a portable house as a wedding gift. But when he tries to construct it, things quickly go awry. “Big Business” is a Laurel and Hardy comedy short following tit-for-tat vandalism between a Christmas tree salesman and the man who rejects them. Monty Banks stars in “Chasing Choo Choos,” a love story leading to a chaotic and hazardous chase.
Todd Wilson is head of the Organ Department at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Director of Music & Worship at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Cleveland, OH. He is the curator of the E.M. Skinner pipe organ at Severence Hall and House Organist for the Aeolian Organ at the Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens in Akron. An active interest in improvisation has led to his popular improvised accompaniments to classic, silent films.
This event is funded in part by PNC. Artist accommodations are provided by the Courtyard Marriot Youngstown – Canfield. For tickets, call 330-259-0555, go to stambaughauditorium.com, or visit the Florence and Ward Beecher Box Office at Stambaugh Auditorium in person. The box office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm.
